Support Luke Azevedo ‘Walk A Mile In Her Shoes’ for the YWCA of Calgary

He’s travelled the world, promoting Calgary to studios and producers. He’s helped bring some of the biggest films and TV series to our city…but apparently, that’s not enough.

Now our fearless film commissioner, Luke Azevedo, is taking things up a notch, and “kicking up his heels” for a good cause.

They say it takes a real man to wear heels, and on September 20, Luke will be joining hundreds of real men taking part in this year’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, benefitting the YWCA of Calgary.

While there is a chance he may break an ankle, there’s a bigger hope that the money Luke raises will help break the cycle of family violence in our city.

There are two ways you can help support the cause and our walker. I would encourage you to visit Luke’s Walk a Mile page where you can donate to help support the YWCA of Calgary. http://support.ywcaofcalgary.com/goto/LukeAzevedo

I would also encourage you to join Calgary Economic Development on September 20 at Olympic Plaza, starting at noon as we cheer on Luke in his walk…and, of course, take pictures for Twitter.

Thank you for your support and hope to see you on September 20!

Board Vacancy

Women in Film and Television Alberta (WIFTA) is entering its 14th year of serving Albertans (from September 2, 2021) as a non-profit organization that promotes and assists the professional development, equitable treatment, recognition of achievements and the creation of new opportunities for professionals, especially women in the film, video, multimedia and television industries.
Some board members, who have done an admirable job, have reached or exceeded their length of term in accordance with our bylaws. This leaves the opportunity for Albertans committed to excellence and growth in film and television to put their names forward to serve on our WIFTA Board.

WIFTA invites you to either put your name forward as a Board member, or to refer individuals you know, to take on the possibility of a leadership role with this dynamic group committed to bringing powerful visions to our screens.

Please contact:
Kathy Fedori, WIFTA President, at 403-619-1088 or [email protected] before Thursday, September 13, 2012.
With thanks for your support as a member and we look forward to your continued participation.

Regards,
Kathy Fedori
President, WIFTA
