CUFF 48-HOUR Horror Movie Making Challenge

The Calgary Underground Film Festival is challenging you to make a short horror film/video, with a few small rules attached.

YOU WILL RANDOMLY BE GIVEN A THEME, A LINE OF DIALOGUE AND A LIST OF PROPS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR FILM

The theme given will be one of the following:

Horror/Comedy� Horror/Musical� Horror/Action� Horror/Thriller

Registration Information:

Group Registration Deadline: January 21st, 2007� The Entrance Fee is: $60

Entrants must be 18 +� Register by Email: [email protected] (payment can be dropped off at Bird Dog Video, 1333 � 16 Avenue S.W. Attention: CUFF)

Registered groups will be given their list on Friday February 2nd at 7:00 P.M and have until Sunday February 4th at 7:00 P.M to deliver their completed screening copy. Only works that meet the deadline will be officially part of the competition. (You can get your list via email, phone or in person. Arrangements can be made when you register, or closer to the date.)

Incomplete, cancelled or disqualified work will not get a refund.

Entrants are accepted on a first come, first served basis. CUFF organizers reserve the right to limit the total number of teams. Completed work will be screened at the festival in April.

Rules:

1. Finished product must be submitted on DVD or Mini DV, and ready for screening.

2. During the official competition period, all creativity will take place, including but not limited to:� Writing the script, Rehearsing, Costume/Set Design, Shooting, Editing, Graphics &Visual Effects, Sound Design & Music

3. The only work to begin prior to the official competition period is:

Organizing Crew, Organizing Cast, Securing Equipment, Scouting/securing Locations

4. Length, including credits is a maximum of 8 minutes

5. Tape preparation: Finished film should have a minimum of 5 seconds of bars and tone and 5 seconds of black, then the following slate - Team Name, Genre, Film Title --before the film begins.

6. Content of the movie/film/video is at the discretion of the participating groups.

7. Note: All cast & crew must be volunteers

(Attention: CUFF) By 7:00 p.m. Sunday February 4th� � Late deliveries will be disqualified.
