The Women In the Director’s Chair Workshop – WIDC 2006

Story-tellers are transformed and dreams come true

Led this year by acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta (BOLLYWOOD/HOLLYWOOD, EARTH, FIRE, and WATER which opens 2005 TIFF). This critically acclaimed program takes 8 mid-level Canadian women directors through all the components of a professional narrative screen production with professional (ACTRA) actors and (DGC, IATSE) crews; story-tellers are transformed, compelling stories are born, and dreams come true.  

WIFTA and Panacea Entertainment are pleased to announce that a $1000 scholarship will be available to an Alberta woman accepted into the program.

CWWA, through programs and initiatives like WIDC is dedicated to strengthening the voice of Canadian women storytellers through the medium of film, television and video drama and ensuring that voice is heard across the country and globally. It is also committed to uniting, promoting and developing the different levels of talent behind indigenous film, television and video production in Canada , as well as a diversity of stories for screen told from Canadian women's perspectives.
